Here is another nice newcomer to the scene that you should keep your eye or ear on. Signed to Tonedeaf records, we have a small newcomer ready to be reckoned with.

Cesium incorporates so many things it's amazing. The closest I can come to comparing them to anyone would have to be Void Construct. It is that much of a unique electronic / electro sound. The band has a massive influence of heavy percussion and base leaving one ready to jump to the dancefloor to pound it all out.

The music itself is well thought out, well layered and composed. This is not a CD that will kill your subwoofer, though, you stand a better chance of destroying your tweakers and speakers with it. Not that I'm complaining, anything that well produced deserves some credit!

Cesium brings you a full length and 2 mcd's/ep's to date. (I will always call them eps no matter if they're mcds etc) One of the latter CDs is being pushed due to the massive response from being most DJs personal favorite thus giving the song the most play time. Said song would be "Regret" off of the full length Advance/Decay.

The first EP "The Fall" was not something that struck me right off the bat as the strongest song on the CD. It seemed to be a teaser for what was to come. Cesium 137 followed up with the well constructed Advance/Decay. Those of you may ask what I base a well constructed cd off of, well to me it's pretty simple. After an initial listen I look for 3 things normally.
1. A change of tempo. A few dancy songs, some hard stompy not for everyone or experimenting stuff or something just soft and mellow. In general a nice mix up. This kind of cd makes for a great pace from beginning to end and above all does not bore the listener easily.
2. Overall mastering. Does it sound like shit loud, or on your headphones. The cd itself seems to be well produced with the exception of "Failure" which I swear was designed to destroy my ears. But I love it immensly.
3. Lyrics and vocals. Do the lyrics sound like they came from a altavista translator or are they well written? Are they natural or vocoded. Can you sing along and be part of the song or just hope he/she doesn't sing anymore so you can enjoy the music. Well on my decision on that part , the CD was evenly paced so that I got a nice mix of the harsh vocals with some mellower parts, overall I was pleased with the quality however I wouldn't say they stood out in a special way over many other bands.

On any note, Cesium 137 blends these 3 guidelines very efficiently and I wish them the best on their journey and continued success.
