Project Pitchfork - Daimonion
Release Date: 2001 Well its been almost 3 years since Project Pitchfork released anything. If you had your hopes high for them coming out with some new brillant cd, sit back down and relax. As brilliance was in no way part of making this cd. First off they come out with the MUCH pressed and advertised "Existence" EP with various remixes including one by VNV Nation. If this was supposed to be an early indication of what the new cd was going to offer they had everyone fooled. As the EP itself is great, the remixes are fairly different sounding and have extremely great dance floor potential it really doesnt give one an accurate feeling for Daimonion. After that release comes Daimonion, which to me seems to be quickly made, the lyrics are quite loose sounding, the majority of the music has no real catcher to it that stops you in your tracks and so it sounds mellower still than their last release's "I live your dream". With the main releases doing well they have also dropped another EP with remixes of "Timekiller", which basically sounds like "Existence" but not quite as good. Now is it just me or is it mandatory now to have 2-4 EP releases per cd? This is a trend Project Pitchfork has had several cds back, and it seems to be catching onto other bands, such as VNV Nation, Apoptygma Berzerk, Suicide Commando and SPOCK to name a few. If this is the trend for companies and bands alike to profit off of their music more, I personally think its pretty sad, as there is too much music as it is now to buy every month without adding EP's with 1-3 extra songs. However I will continue to buy them now as I see some direct benefits to myself for doing so. However all in all, if you like Project Pitchfork's more recent work this will probably be something that you won't mind in your collection, if however you had high hopes of some masterpiece maybe you should check out their side project Absurd Minds.
