Collide: Chasing The Ghost

Review By: Azriel K.

Take a band who has already had 2 previous releases, one that has been featured in over a dozen compilations, and has done re-mixes of songs by Christ Analogue, Waiting For God, and Front Line Assembly (you may remember it from the Re-Wind album) just to name a few. and you have Collide which consists of 2 people, Statik, who has done programming for albums like Powerman 5000: Tonight The Stars Revolt and Machines of Loving Grace: Guilt.
kaRIN, who besides being an accomplished singer has a knack for the paint brush and the camera.
Released October 31st, 2000 Collide's latest full length CD Chasing the Ghost can easily be considered "goth" with its soft, mysterious, flavour while still appealing to people of other genre's because of it's diversity from one song to the next, for example, how Transfer may seem more on the sexy mysterious side while a song like White Rabbit may be something you would want to dance to.
Collide cannot be easily compared to another band, but only a multitude of bands stirred together into one magnificent harmony. Statik has taken alot of basic principles of synth music, and added some very original elements in, a definate sign of his long history as a musician. A prime example of this would be track 7: Halo which just happens to be kaRIN at one of her best moments as the both of them work in near perfect euphony. As kaRIN sings, her voice is "teched" up in certain spots which plays tricks on your ears.
The only downfall is this CD is very hard to get a hold of. The easiest way is to buy it at amazon.com or to harass your local venue to order a copy.
