The Sisters of Mercy: A Slight Case Of Overbombing

Review By: Azriel K.

The first song I ever heard by The Sisters of Mercy would have to be Temple of Love, almost every band out there has their song they are “known” for, how many times have we heard people request Closer By Nine Inch Nails “hey man, can you play that ‘I wanna fuck you like an animal’ song?” So this was the song that at that point gave me the whole sterio type on what S.O.M. was supposed to be, and I was not impressed. However I continued my reaseach and quickly found Sisters to be a great band, but at the same time an aquired taste. Unless you like cheesy 80’s goth, which I do :) This greatest hits album, though very good does not in my opinion contain their best work, I would say that the only songs on here suited for “greatest hits” would have to be “Lucretia My Reflection” and “Vision Thing” If you’re looking into hearing more music by The Sisters of Mercy, I would not suggest starting with this album. But if you’re already a fan then go for it
