Void Construct - Estramay Aleph
Release Date: 2001 Well here is definately a top 5 cd of 2001. I basically have to describe this as a new EBM and or Electro sound, as it incorporates both sounds to a VERY effective degree. Progressive beats mixed with amazing keyboard melodies. This band is signed to the smaller label Cryonica Music and is there 3rd official release. Definately a good cd coming from the UK. Sometimes smaller means better! This cd is basically a heavy mix of EBM and Electro, all songs seem to me to have massive dancefloor potential. Intriguing complex rythms and beats mixed into God Module style vocals with perfect sampling and mastering come across perfectly! I'd rank this in my top five this year, most likely possibly top 3 due to the fact that the music is ever changing in its beats and rythm, some of the tracks are AWESOME electro hits like Silicon Etch 6-1-1. Which I have not been able to get out of my head since I heard it. I tend to stick to heavier electro on my spare time, and this definately fills the spot. It really is a mix of alot of sounds as most electro has a few heavy beats with some distorted vocals (Funker Vogt is a perfect example). My 2 favorite tracks on the cd are Silicon Etch 6-1-1 which only a hardcore electro will probably like and then opening track Chemical Burn as my favorite EBM song. Silicon Etch continually builds up and then blows all over with heavy heavy vocoders and beats. In a sense I think it has a very errie sound to it, kind of like an impending doom, and panic. Excellent song. Other favorites include heavily sampled Splintered, Dust Angel and the slower yet heavy closing track Synthemesc. This cd is a great example of how smaller labels do and still produce higher quality cds then the cds that come out in groups of 12,000 and sound worse then the originally released cd it was remade from. (not mentioning what cd that is) I feel if youre looking for something new please go out and buy this cd and support the smaller label and the band whom I'm sure would love to see support for their music.
